Girt By Sea Painting Exhibition
GIRT BY SEA Exhibition at MIAC runs from Friday March 3 (OPENING 6pm) to Sunday March 26
The time frame for entries has now expired.
The Gallery at MIAC will be closed from Feb 20 till our opening to enable change over from the current members exhibition, a spruce up and hanging of the new Girt By Sea paintings. Sculptures will also be being delivered and placed securely in our gardens.
Paintings entered will be on display from 10 am till 3 pm every day during this competition. Many sculptures entered through MIAC will be on display in our landscaped gardens overlooking beautiful Moreton Bay. Truly MIAC is Girt by Sea!
The Redland City Council Competition is an acquisition program with the following prizes are available to participating artists:
- Ten artists will be awarded a prize of $500;
- Five artists will be awarded a prize of $1000;
- Two artists will be awarded a prize of $2500; and
- One artist will be awarded a prize of $5000,
- ‘Peoples Choice’ $500.

Girt By Sea Sculpture Competition
We Welcome artists both emerging and established to celebrate the natural beauty of Redland Bay and the Bay Islands by entering there existing or new works in the ‘Girt By Sea’ Sculpture Exhibition with prizes totalling $74,000 overall.
The Exhibition is an acquisition program with the following prizes are available to participating sculptures:
- Four separate acquisitions of $8,000 ;
- Three separate acquisitions of $14,000 each;
- ‘Best Exhibit’ $2,000; and
- ‘Peoples Choice’ $500.

The Exhibition to be held between 11 to 19 March 2017.

Girt By Sea Kayak Landing Point
We Welcome Sculptors both emerging and established to celebrate the natural beauty of Redland Bay and the Bay Islands by entering into a competition to design and make a number of Kayak Landing Point structures in the form of a paddle or oar.
Redland City Council is seeking submissions for the commissioning of sculpture signs to be installed at Kayak landing points located within Redland City.
Seven submissions will be selected for installation, in consideration of which Council will pay an amount of $3000 per sculpture to be paid upon installation of the sculpture. Sculptures must be comprised of material that is sufficient to withstand the outdoor elements. The sculptures theme is a paddle or oar and of a size large enough to be seen from a distance. Minimum size height is 2 metres.
Artwork Description Artists are to provide the following materials:
- A completed Sculpture Commission Form;
- A description of their proposed works including a statement demonstrating how the work meets the Project Brief, proposed materials and methods;
- An indicative sketch or image of the proposes work including proposed dimensions

We offer pottery, painting, and now printing at our new Print studio as well as other classes. Our beautiful Gallery promotes and sells member’s work, and is available for hire by both Members and Non Members (who naturally pay a higher price) for Exhibitions.
